Ninja Foodie/InstaPot Best Brisket Eva!
So first, I’m sorry but I can’t seem to get the comments fixed. This makes me sad because I want to know what you like! It’s still on my list and I will eventually figure it out but until then, here is a new fav here!
Brisket. Did you know this cut used to be thrown away or given to dogs in the past because it was too tough to eat??? Crazy if you’ve ever had a good one. The flavor (especially from grass fed) is tremendous.
(Skip this section if you’re in a rush) No resolutions for me this year. None. I decided to reflect on what I would have done differently if I could’ve changed anything in 2022. As it turns out, it started as one thing and then the next thing I knew the list was so long that it gave me anxiety. I also ended up thinking about conversations where I said something awkward (which is rather frequent for me), my inability to sometimes connect with people because I have 500 things going on in my head, how many times my kids ate fast food in a specific given week. I think you can see the rabbit holes that I was traveling down, so I scrapped that too. 🤣 Likely undiagnosed ADHD but hey! God made me this way (or some chemical damage along the way.) Stay with me, this has to do with this recipe. Among many of my toxic traits is that I buy something and either not using it, or using it very little, especially if it takes effort to learn or time because well, I am always short on that. (By the way, I am sorry this is taking so long, I HATE reading blog crap when I just want a recipe…) So THIS is one thing I want to do better with. Using what I have, and to its fullest!
Anyway, this happened with a Ninja Foodie. I’ve admittedly had it for two years. I bought it really for the air fryer part, and used it maybe 5 times in two years. Well that is changing my friends! While I took some time off from my day job over the holidays (yes, I work off the farm in a very demanding but rewarding career) I decided to break that bad boy out and get to it.
And I started with Brisket because why? I have made them in the over (shoe leather), crock pot (overflowed, big mess and long story), and smoker and didn’t like it at all. I understood the dog food thing… but I wasn’t ready to give up.
Alas, this was NOT a fail!! Try this, you will love it!
Here’s what you need:
Brisket (4-5 lbs)
1 TBSP each of Garlic powder, Onion Powder and Salt mixed together
1 whole garlic bulb
1 whole large onion (or two small)
I cup Worcestershire sauce
1.5 cups water
Here’s how to do it:
Dry your brisket off, then rub it with the three spice mix you made.
If your pot does searing, sear it on all sides (DON’T SKIP THIS!!) just until browned. Otherwise sear on the stove.
Put it in your instapot/foodie and toss in your onion, cut in half, your garlic just in half across the cloves, the Worcestershire sauce and water.
Lid it, close the vent and then on High Pressure cook it for 25 minutes/lb.
Let it release for 10 minutes then release it manually.
Pull out the brisket, and begin to shred it if you are shredding (this makes great sandwiches!) then add 2-3 cups of the broth into your shredded meat. Otherwise, use broth to make a gravy and serve that overtop.
This is the best brisket we’ve ever had. All 4 pounds were consumed in this house within 48 hours by 4 people! Photos to follow :) Enjoy!
