Our story
Ree’Nor Ranch officially started in 2020, a year none of us will ever forget. However, technically, it began many, many years before. In 2010, we started looking for cures to illness and ailments and it led us down a rabbit hole we had no idea existed.
We spent years planning, building, preparing and crying (let’s be honest, there’s a lot of crying in farming of any kind). Many prayers, sleepless nights, fears and worries. But we persevered as it was important to us to change how food is raised.
Food is not just something that appears in a grocery store. There is a life behind it, a stamp left on this planet forever. In all honesty, it was a Netflix documentation on how poultry is raised and slaughtered that ignited a fire inside of us. Then it was a little girl’s comment at a grocery store that she didn’t know “beef came from cows.” In our society, we have become disconnected from our food. We know nothing about how it was raised, what it was fed, it’s wellbeing, or safety. It is our mission to not only raise healthy, happy animals, but to teach people along the way about where their food comes from, and why that’s important.
We would love to have you follow us on this journey! We offer the sale of fresh poultry (whole chickens and turkeys); portions/whole heritage breed, woodlot raised pork; and portions of grass fed beef. Reach out if you’d like to chat or have questions!
Much love!
Our practices
We work with local farmers to purchase our grain and hay. We then grind the grain needed daily to feed our animals. They are eating whole grains, with zero fillers and no additives. Real ingredients. Why? Because we’ve watch labels change over the years from whole grains (like corn, soybean, wheat, etc.) to things like “grain byproducts, animal byproducts, oil biproducts”. We don’t feed our family anything that we don’t know specifically what is in the food, why would we feed our animals differently?
Our animals are raised primarily in woodlots. Although they are contained with fencing, they are allowed to come and go as they please. No one is ever locked in a barn or stall. They are fed a daily ration of grain (except the cows - they are grass only until two months prior to processing) and are also fed hay, dried organic herbs, and fruit/vegetables. Everyone gets a name, everyone gets individual attention daily. Even our 800 lb Boar lays down for his belly scratches! Our hogs get an extra special treat every day as well. We grow our own, fresh fodder! Fodder goes from see to feed in just 8 days! Llush, green grass grown from Rye, Wheat or Barley is fed and the hogs just love it!
We do truly love our animals and we thank them for their sacrifices they make. They are important to us, and we hope you enjoy everything we have to offer! We hope you join us on our journey to make a change to the food industry.
